Promoting the people, places and things of Harrison, AR is to me like the lightbulb was to Edison: Keep trying until you get it right. At this stage of life and the journey, I will say it’s the “72601.Life Destination Guide and Business Directory”. The main difference? I don’t, nor do I want, JP Morgan money to back me. So perhaps I’m more like Nikola Tesla: an idealistic genius that would rather see free energy for all vs exorbitant profits and wealth for myself? 

Or, I’m just crazy. 

Either way it’s been a journey of incredible highs and devastating lows. Fascinating lessons learned and extremely frustrating roadblocks. So many stories collected in my “Book of Life” that I myself find hard to believe many actually happened and harder to believe I’ve kept doing this for nearly 17 years. 

The definition of insanity (doing the same thing over and over expecting a different outcome) or resilience (Do what you can with what you have, where you are.) Either way (or both), I’ve lived, learned, and loved a lot right here where I am with the woman I love, the daughter I adore and the friends that though few and far between are worth more than any societal measure of success. 

I truly am good with all of that. Why and how? Because there’s no book, school, tutoring program, magical crystal ball or most advanced Artificial Intelligence that could ever map out such a rewarding lesson plan.

I did archive a lot of the notes and steps. Some call it “hoarding”, I call it archiving. To each their own. Regardless, all of those from then to now are what comprise what is my SPARK and how I’ve expressed it as a storyteller and creator in the various ways and means over the decades. 

I now see and can proclaim and they have and will always serve as the bedrock under the foundation of the philosophy I’ve come to embrace over the span of 51 years on this rock: 

My SPARK is that of a storyteller and creator whose efforts and actions are meant to create, not to compete. 

We are made to serve with our lives, not sacrifice them merely for the sake of societal gains such as wealth, power and fame. All of those I’ve come to accept are nothing more than dangling carrots leading our carts to the inevitable grave. The sad part? I’ve never once went out of my way for a carrot… unless it might be to help the grocery store sell them in a unique, clever, creative or consistent way. Or the restaurant that has the perfect dish made from said carrots. Or perhaps the healthy living, holistic teacher who knows, understands and shares the genuine benefits that carrots can offer you. 

That run right there shows you my SPARK in action. In all of that, I hope you can see how you too can IDENTIFY your own with the slightest sprinkle of idea coupled with inspiration and then brainstorming. That flow of thought is how I know that through the rest of this chapter in life moving forward, I will hunker down on helping those who care to, to now NURTURE, APPLY and THRIVE from their SPARK.

We’ve all got ‘em so why in the hell aren’t we using them? 

Well, I am, and I hope you will too.
