A thought on growing… a lesson in patience.

“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” – Teddy Roosevelt

I love that quote from the former Bull Moose President of the United States. so much so that Alicia found this coaster and knew I had to have it….

So true a statement has been spoken.

The main thing that comes to mind when I see that is 1. Whatever it is, do it. 2. Perseverance will pay off. 3. Perfectionism is the killer of dreams and goals. The key though: be patient with yourself and the process.

I couldn’t be more grateful for those words having gotten stuck in my head. I guess I could say they are a productive mantra for me… every single day.

That wasn’t always the case though.

In truth, fear of judgement and criticism was always my unstated reason for procrastination and false perfectionism. I see that so clearly now. I also reflect on the reality that not one accomplishment in life, career and growth came with spontaneous positive results… yet all were most certainly a success at the end of the day. Each mindful effort with intent defined led to new skills, accomplishments, dreams fulfilled and positive hope for everyday now and the tomorrows that hopefully continue to come.

In that circle of life, I am truly grateful, thankful and happy… even on the clunky days when the buttons don’t push like they should.

Just keep pushing em until they do :)

PS: One such series of buttons was in getting acclimated to the bells and whistles for the podcast. You can see in the following clip how I bounced myself and Rick around like a ping pong yet in the end of the horizontal vertigo a great moment was still captured.

A necessary scolding in real time ;)
