Getting the jump on “Black Friday”

Frankly, I’ve been over the whole concept of Black Friday since 1997 when I first heard about it. The idea of lining up outside a Walmart in the wee hours of the morning with hundreds if not thousands of people wasn’t appealing.

At all.

There was no deal great enough to motivate me. Perhaps no items that would complete my or a friend or family members life were being offered. So I could be biased in that? Maybe, maybe not but overall it just seemed dumb.

Years later I did go to one of”event” (not in the wee hours mind you, that shop had already sailed by then) and I absolutely was underwhelmed by the offerings and more disappointed in my fellow humans grabbing and snatching 5 $10 no name, pre paid smart phones with a look of pure accomplishment in their eyes as they ran to the next POS display.

I ain’t judging ya folks, I’m just saying.

Back to the point:

Another thing that really got me was that the “big guys” have manipulated the masses into plunking down hard earned money on crap year after year after year. Of course people make their own choices and I am not one to tell anyone what to do.

For what it’s worth, this retail abomination inspired this effort and series that I hope turns into something good for the 72601.Life :)

I am however one to make some suggestions and add a little food for thought to you dear reader.

So what do I suggest?

It starts with local businesses getting out front and center with their offerings and options. To do my part, I’m reaching out and looking for you in the 72601. If that’s you, let me know with a comment here or wherever you see this post and let do some show and tell. It won’t cost you a dime.

Enjoy that 72601.Life … I am,
